Fair Food

Founded in 2011, Fair Food is Auckland's original food rescue charity. By diverting food from landfill to feed those in need, Fair Food addresses social and environmental issues that were among our most urgent and concerning even before COVID-19 struck. But with COVID-19, food insecurity in New Zealand has exploded - 1 in 5 kiwis are now struggling to put food on the table.

The demand for food recovery and assistance is unprecedented and likely to continue as the pandemic bites harder and ready access to good food is compromised.

Fair Food supports over 50 trusted charities supplying them with good surplus food once destined for landfill. These include family violence agencies, refugee centres, mental health, budgeting, homeless agencies, teen parenting groups, rehabilitation centres, schools, marae and more. At last count, Fair Food supports 4,000 whanau or 20,000 people a week distributing approximately 120,000 rescued meals a month, and more in a lockdown given impact on business closures, income interruptions and job loss.

You may know where your next meal is coming from, but your neighbour may not. Fair food welcome all food and financial support and thank you in advance for what you bring to the table. $1 donated is equal to 3 meals the can provide to families in need. Be a food rescue superhero!
